It's National Old Stuff Day

Today is National Old Stuff Day.  Now, the idea behind this National Day is to think of different ways you can change up your day.  You know, instead of doing the same old stuff today, do something different! I decided to put my own spin on this day, and show you stuff that I used to do that I don't do anymore.  I changed up my routine a while ago and gave up some of the following stuff.

This is me on my second day at home in my new bed.

Cat beds are old stuff for me and I don't sleep in them anymore.  Ever since I came out of the bathroom after I got better and could meet Lexy, I gave them up.  I only sleep on furniture or Mommy's bed.

Mommy used to have to keep my feeding station in the bathroom.

I'm not afraid anymore to eat out in the open, and my feeding station is in the living room.

This is me in the towel rack.

That was my safe place. Mommy was very happy when I grew out of it and didn't need a safe place anymore.  (Well, my sorta safe place is on Mommy's lap now! MOL)

Okay, my last Old Stuff thing is Brown Mousie.

Brown Mousie was the first toy I ever played with after being adopted. (Well, he was really Lexy's mousie, but I took him from her!) I used to throw him up in the air and catch him, I used to run around the house with him in my mouth meowing, I would bring him to Mommy at night, and I would get sad when I couldn't find him.  I brought him everywhere.

He was my first best friend.  But then one day, all of a sudden, I just stopped playing with him. Mommy said I outgrew him as I got older. The truth is I gave him up when I really felt like a part of the family. When Lexy and I started to get along, when I started sleeping with Mommy at night, and when I stopped running and hiding when she came home, I gave him up.  I didn't need a security blankie anymore once I became a brave girl.  Don't worry, Brown Mousie is still around in our toy box.  I keep him around as a keepsake and every now and then I take him out so I can give Mommy a smile.  It still feels good to see him sometimes.

What Old Stuff have you given up? Did you do anything different today? Tell us!

  1. Since I'm not even a year old yet, I don't really have a lot of old stuff! Although I wish somebody would change up that old cat tree that's been around for like 11 years!

    1. Goodness Summer- your human STILL hasn't gotten you girls a new cat tree?! I remember your angel sister Sparkle complaining of this for years! You must take the upper paw and inform her you, Binga, and Boodie deserve a new one. Perhaps you can make a deal with her to replace it as a reward for all the hard work you've put in to studying how to be a supermodelcat/show cat, therapy cat, AND professional blogger. I think all those jobs are certainly deserving of payment in the form of a new cat tree. Purrrrrrrrs from Clove and Kaspars

  5. Awwww Lola my niece, your little brown mousie brings back so many sweet memories of the days when Mama Pheebs and I first met you and Mommy- was that really four years ago already? You are all grown up, so brave and an accomplished author and Mama Pheebs earned her wings over a year ago- so bittersweet.
I remember your fierce love for your brown mousiie and how you turned many of your friends on to the pawesomeness of it, including Pheebs and her panther sister ÄŒerny (also an angel 2 1/2 yrs) who each owned one. They loved theirs, especially ÄŒerny who was a nipaholic and who's mousie I replenished with fresh nip frequently. Her poor brown mousie eventually made its journey to the mousie toy trash heaven, its furry 'body' as stiff as a real dead mousie! ÄŒerny's nip induced high superdrool when dried upon the mousie's fur shellacked it to an irreversible stiff carcass, along with its shredded and chewed areas was a sad sight, yet evidence of a much loved and enjoyed toy.
Thank you for sharing National Old Stuff Day and your memories, for they brought up many beloved memories for me of my much loved girls and much loved Lola. 💜💋😽🌷

  6. I haven't really given up anything. I do go under the bed much less than I used. I used to spend a good part of my day under the bed or in the closet. I just love to be hidden away. I'd probably still spend time in the closet if I had the chance.

These are such sweet pictures of you, pretty Lola.

  7. We didn't know about this day. We don't sleep on our ham-micks much anymore. Mom thinks it is only 'cause it is winter an cold and we want to sleep in the bed with them. Our toys go in and out of favor. It seems as if everything yo have given up has made your life so much better. 8. Hi Lola! We didn't know about this day. We have a bunch of old stuff to donate to the thrift store. The stuff is in bags and has been sitting in our basement for several months. Maybe this will inspire my assistant to bring it over this weekend.

  9. Awww, your Brown Mousie story made me tear up! Truffles doesn't spend much time in her lounger anymore, she prefers the bed and other furniture, but I also think it's because it's closer to the floor and colder down there.
