Today would be a good day to start a practice of giving thanks by starting a gratitude journal. Make a list of all of the things you are blessed with and/or grateful for today. You can continue this practice by doing this daily. Every night before you go to bed, write down what you were grateful for that day. (What brought you happiness, what inspired you, etc. You get the picture.) If you don't have time to write in a journal, you can silently say your daily list to yourself. Chopra.com says that gratitude is an immensely powerful force that we can use to expand our happiness, create loving relationships, and even improve our health.
And now a few quotes about gratitude that we like:
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. - Melodie Beattie
'Thank you' is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding. - Alice Walker
Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation. - Brian Tracy
What are you grateful for today?

ReplyDeleteWe are grateful for our forever home, and for our mom and dad, and for how much they love us. And for places like the shelter we came from, where cats and dogs can wait for THEIR happily ever afters. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat advice ! We're grateful for living in a loving forever home. Purrs
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for being loved and cared for by my human and having plenty of food, shelter, and wonderful friends. I am especially grateful for kitties like you and Lexy who help raise awareness about so many issues that plague felines through your book, blog posts, and charity activities you participate in. You girls show humans and our fellow felines that helping to make a difference doesn't always mean you must have a lot of money, time, or resources to give. Something as simple as sharing a blog post about a kitty who needs a home could be just the thing that changes that kitty's life for the better. Gratitude is a gift we can learn from and share to make the world a better place.

I think it's really awesome that there is a National Gratitude Day. I was writing in a gratitude journal, but then fell out of practice. I should start doing that again. It definitely helps me stay positive to think of the things I have and am thankful for, like my kitties, my home, food in my tummy, and great friends like you!
