When I was at BlogPaws in June I was happy to see that Fresh Wave was there. I had heard about their products and was very interested in learning more about them. I’ve been moving towards having a chemical free home for the past couple of years because products laden with chemicals really aggravate my migraines, and I like to use products that are safe for Lola and Lexy. So I’m always on the lookout for natural products and was not disappointed with Fresh Wave.
It was interesting to know that Fresh Wave has been around for over 20 years, way before it was popular to use natural products. Their mission is to emphasize the safe and the natural, concentrating on making great products without using harmful chemicals or destroying the planet. A company with a conscience! I love it! Fresh Wave natural odor removing products use simple, pure and natural ingredients — water and natural extracts of lime, pine needle, aniseed, clove and cedarwood — to get rid of organic and inorganic odors. No chemicals, no headaches, and no worries around your pets.
I have been trying out the odor removing gel, spray, laundry booster, and packs since the beginning of July and I’m really loving all of them. Let’s face it; all houses have odors. And pets bring a whole set of odors of their own! I much prefer to combat them in a natural way.
Odor Removing Gel
The odor removing gel comes in a jar with a slotted lid that you can place in any room with stink problems. The gel generally lasts 30 to 60 days and will disappear after it evaporates.
I placed mine near the litter box. The girls and I share a one-bedroom apartment, so they don't have the luxury of their own bathroom. We had a very humid heatwave recently, and for some reason the box odor seemed worse. The gel especially helped with litter odors on those days. On all other days it worked really well, too. The fragrance is extremely mild and virtually undetectable.
Odor Removing Packets
The odor removing packets are more fragrant to really target those tough odors. I used mine in my kitchen garbage can. I do a lot of food prep on Sundays, so that means lots of scraps and peelings – onions, garlic, fruit rinds, etc.
Fresh Wave’s packet keeps my kitchen smelling fresh on Sundays, and on other days when I forget to take the garbage out as often as I should. The packets are better used in areas where there are really tough odors because the scent is much stronger than the other products.
Odor Removing Laundry Booster
One of the many hats I wear is that of Licensed Massage Therapist. There is something about massage oils and lotions that create an odor on your sheets after a while that just never comes out. I've had this conversation with several Massage Therapists and no one has found a solution. Until now! I have a set of sheets that I used in massage school maybe four or five years ago. They have that massage oil smell that I've never been able to get out. I don't use them for massage anymore, but I keep them because they're a pretty color and I use them as a backdrop to photo shoots with the the girls. I decided to give the laundry booster a try with them. I had recently taken a continuing education class on essential oils, and I had towels with the scent of several essential oils on them. (Those smells don't easily come out, either.) I tossed them in the wash with the laundry booster and was pleasantly surprised at the results. The odor on the sheets was much less, and the towels had no essential oil smell. I also used it on a regular load of laundry to see if there would be any lingering smell of the booster on my clothes. Nope... just fresh smelling clothes. I will definitely use this when washing any massage related laundry or laundry that has sat too long in the hamper.
Odor Removing Spray
My favorite of all of the products is hands down the odor removing spray. I use this on everything! The fragrance is not overpowering at all, but is just enough to freshen your fabric. I tried this in place of my other fabric freshener and was very pleased with the results. Whatever I was refreshing smelled more natural rather than covered up.
I got caught in a rainstorm one evening on the way home from work, and the next day my sneakers were still wet in the summer humidity. Not too pleasant. I gave them a good spritz with Fresh Wave’s spray and they were good as new. I also love the bottle because it has an easy “on/off” button that you simply push from one side of the nozzle to the other to open or close.
Fresh Wave also gives back to the community. To the folks at Fresh Wave “it’s not just about making products, it’s about making an impact in our communities.” Some of the organizations they support are Catholic Charities, Children’s Miracle Network, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Horizons for Youth (among many others.) I personally respect a company that not only cares about the environment but supports people in the community as well.
As my girls would say, Fresh Wave products get four paws up. Since I don’t have paws, I give them two thumbs up. I used their store locator to see where I could purchase their products locally, and several Bed Bath and Beyond and Target stores came up in the search. Yay for me! They’re easy to find.
