Hello and Happy Friday! Today we have another installment in our Rescue Stories series. Meet Keigo, who was adopted when a family went out to lunch. We met Keigo on Instagram and quickly found out he's a cool dude cat. Read on to see how he adopted his family.
Lola
My children had always wanted to have a cat, but my husband was not really keen on the idea. But after much persuasion, he finally relented when a family friend’s cat had kittens. Our friend promised to give one of the kittens to my children once it was weaned from its mother. Over the course of few weeks he sent pictures of the kitten to us and my children fell in love madly with the little fluffball. Unfortunately, a few days before we were supposed to pick the kitten up, we received devastating news; the kitten had contracted a deadly virus and did not survive. My children were heartbroken and we felt so sorry for them.
To cheer up the kids we took them for lunch at their favorite restaurant. Even though we had been there numerous times, we never noticed the pet centre/shelter few doors away. My children went inside the pet shelter as my husband grudgingly followed. A handsome looking fluffball meowed so loud at my husband and I believed it was love at first sight between them.
He grabbed my husband's hand and did not let go until we decided to adopt him. He chose us!! We were informed that his previous carer found him alone and injured on the street. They took care of him and nursed him to health before giving him up for adoption at the shelter.
My daughter named him Keigo, in honor of Keigo Higashino her favorite author. My husband didn’t approve of it and just called him "kucing", a Malay word for "cat". Keigo is such a cheeky and playful cat and we love him dearly. He has gotten away with almost every mischievous thing he could do, and my husband has spoiled him rotten!
We believe that Keigo was meant to be with our family the minute we laid eyes on him. Since he "adopted" us, my children are more aware of their duties and obligations, especially when it comes to him, and we socialise more as a family around Keigo.
Keigo lives with his family in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. You can find him on Instagram at @keigolechat

It cracks me up that the husband was the most reluctant and now Keigo has him wrapped around his little dewclaw - doesn't it always work out that way?

There is nothing better than finding your forever animal during a lunch break!! My friend went to the shelter this week and the same thing happened. I think shelters should run some sort of campaign about heading to your rescue organization on a full stomach!! Great and very happy story.
ReplyDeleteLook at those beautiful green eyes - Keigo is a stunner and has found a wonderful home by the looks of things.
ReplyDeleteResistance is futile! Cat = 1 Hubby = 0

ReplyDeleteI love stories like these, especiatlly when the father is against it. my Sister in law, neiece and nephew wanted a cat so bad...but Rob their dad did not and kept putting it off for years, then My sister in law Courtney finally got him to go to the shelter and he feel in love with smokey and they have been inseparable ever since. Rob acts all big and bad until Smokey is around and Smokey turns him in to a lovable boy. I love how animals can bring out the child in us!
