Today I’m
Me in the shelter |
...I don’t want other cats to end up in the same situation I did.
After I was adopted and came home to live with Lexy and Mommy, I started a Facebook page. I wrote about my recovery and how I was learning to trust people and life again. (I had a lot of healing to do and my new home was the purrfect place for me to do it in.) Lexy and I also wrote about some fun things, too, to make people laugh. Guess what? Way back then I was writing to save lives and I didn’t even know it! My story inspired someone to adopt a cat from a shelter, and can you guess what that person named her new family member? LOLA! Now that is cool. I saved a life!
I wanted to save even more lives, so I decided to share my diary with the world. Lola: Diary of a Rescued Cat is the story of my rescue and recovery. I published it because I wanted to inspire people to treat animals with dignity and respect and to encourage them to run out to a shelter and adopt a new family member!
Lexy would like to say something now. Okay, Lexy, go ahead…
I join Lola in her quest to bring attention to rescued pets and to tell people animals should be well respected and taken care of. I was abandoned when my first family moved away and left me behind to fend for myself. (Chances are I was a little neglected, too.) I was lucky because I was found by a wonderful no-kill shelter where I was treated like a queen. But not all animals are as lucky as I was, and that motivates me to write to save lives. I'm proud to be a voice for animals in need.
Lexy's first day at home |
Thank you, Lexy. We make a great team!
Two of the things we focus on here at Lola The Rescued Cat is advocacy and education. We write about advocacy because we are passionate about rescue and animal welfare and we want to promote responsible pet ownership. We write about educational topics to give people ideas to help keep their pets happy and healthy. It's a lot of work sometimes, but it's important work and we're proud to do it.
You can write to save lives, too! Remember Me Thursday is two weeks away! All you have to do is use the hashtag #RememberMeThursday or #RememberThe Rescue on social media to help spread the word that Remember Me Thursday is September 28. Easy peasy, right?
Will you join us in writing to save lives on September 28?

We're so happy your mom found you and you now have a wonderful forever home. I hope your story can save many more lives.
ReplyDeleteSparkle was a great advocate for rescue, even though she was a pedigreed cat. More than one cat saved from a kill shelter was named after her! Although my life has taken me on a far different path from Sparkle's, I still hope I am helping help cats in need.
ReplyDeleteYou do lots to help four legged and two legged beings. You're a special kitty. We wish we had the opportunity to know Sparkle because we bet we would have been great friends.
DeleteLola, the photo of you in the shelter just breaks my heart! I am so glad that you found your furrever home, and with Lexy as your pal. The Hubby and I know our heritage, which is sorta 'rescued', and will always do the same with our furry family members!
ReplyDeleteWe got rescued too.
ReplyDeleteWe're glad your mom found you and brought you home.
Have a super Thursday...
Noodle and crew

ReplyDeletewe are very proud of you both for sharing your stories and helping get the word out about adoptions.
ReplyDeleteYou are a special sweetie. We love adoptions and our hearts hurt for those who don't make it to their happy.
ReplyDeleteMy mom's eyes felt all leaky looking at your dear face in that shelter. Bless you. And bless your parents for rescuing you, precious baby. You and your sisfur are sweet girls working hard to help other cats. Your momma too.
ReplyDeleteWe're glad you found such a great forever home, and it's great that your story helps to get other kitties adopted. Purrs
ReplyDeleteYou're such a good advocat, Lola. We will be pawticipating in #RememberMeThursday.
ReplyDeleteI love this post so much, and everything you do for cats in need is so very important. In a way it makes me sad that I don't know much about where Mudpie came from and her story before I adopted her, but on the other hand it would probably break my heart. She's with me now and is cherished, so why dwell on the past.
ReplyDeleteLola and Lexy, we love you both. You guys do so much to advocate for and educate on rescue.
ReplyDeleteThank you for spreading the word. I am glad you were both rescued and have a wonderful mom.
ReplyDeleteYou both are beautiful girls ... we're so glad your Mommy saw the beauty of your souls too. The cruelty of humanity almost made me stop blogging a couple times after reading stories of cats tortured or hurt by humans. But some one needs to be the voice - someone needs to tell the story. Our blog is mostly humor - but that humor - and the deep attachment Bear and I have - is how he saved MY life. That's what I try to pass on with our blog.
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy to have come to know you and Lexy and that you now have a wonderful home. We love this organization and Remember Me Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI love this!! I should definitely participate. I'm all about promoting rescue and saving lives. My Benji was a rescue and they are definitely the sweetest souls. -SG
ReplyDeleteAww, they are so beautiful! and what a great cause! Will definitely be checking back in on the progress.
ReplyDeleteHow cool you have a namesake. I'm glad you were rescued and have a great home now. And now you're an advocate!
ReplyDeleteYou are so a good kitty Lola, doing your part to raise awareness for shelter pets. Our Babu was adopted too and I always spread the word for adopt, don't shop! So glad you found a great home and sister Lexi:-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful story, so happy that you and Lexi found your furever home and you are healed and mended from your terrible experience. You are doing a great job spreading the adopt don't shop story, keep it up!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for you both and your Mom that you all rescued each other and now advocate for others. #rescuesrock is our motto. We will definitely join in sharing the message.
ReplyDeleteLola and Lexi the work you do with your Mom is wonderful! You have different rescue stories but are both able to be excellent advocates. Your Mom has really helped you both come from such difficult places to be happy, secure furry family members and now you are passing it on! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI love your mission and the wonderful home you have provided for Lexi and Lola! All animals should be treated with dignity, respect and love. I admire your passion and will definitely help you spread the word about this important event!
ReplyDeleteYou two ended up in the PERFECT forever home with the PERFECT mom! Thank you both for writing to save lives.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Remember Me Thursday and I'm so proud to be part of it this year. Great job Lola and Lexy!
