Going to the vet is never easy for my cats – or me! Getting Lola and Lexy into their carriers is a trying experience for all three of us, not to mention exiting the carriers when it’s time for them to be examined. Lola will (usually) come out willingly and greet everyone, but not Lexy. When it’s her turn to be examined I have to dismantle the carrier, and then put it back together before she can go back in. By the time our vet visit is over all three of us are ready for a nap!
I had been eyeing the Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed for some time and when I had the opportunity to partner with Sleepypod for a review, this cat mom was happy!
Hey! That cat looks like me! |
The Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed is three products in one. It’s a carrier, a safe car seat, and a bed. I love this because Lexy can travel to the vet in the comfort of one of her favorite beds with all the smells of home. It’s familiar to her, so it reduces her stress. (And mine!)
Getting ready for our trip to the vet was easier than ever. All I had to do was zip the dome onto the base, put her in, and then zip the top of the dome closed. 1.. 2.. 3! Now that was something that has never happened in the seven years Lexy and I have been together.
"Why do I get the feeling I'm going somewhere?" |
No more dismantling the carrier to get her out! All I have to do is unzip the top of the dome so I can reach in and pick her up.
"I'm in the middle of a nap, here. Can you come back later?" |
When it was time to go home I just dropped her right back in closed it up.
Sleepypod recommends introducing your pet to the carrier before you go on your first adventure. I unzipped the dome and placed the base in one of Lexy’s favorite sleeping places. If there’s one thing Lexy loves, it’s a comfy bed. She took to it immediately and started sleeping in it every night (and still does.)
I really love how stylish this carrier is. I think it’s the perfect carrier for a city dweller to use to transport their cat anywhere.
I always worry about dropping the carrier when I’m walking from the car to the building, and because Lexy is a little heavy for me to carry (at almost 13 pounds) I’m frequently switching hands. The shoulder strap makes carrying her much easier and I don't worry about anything happening to the carrier. I live in a third-floor walk-up, and I’m always struggling on the steps, but thanks to the Sleepypod I'm able to manage much better.
When my boyfriend and I were waiting to cross the street, a woman walking by commented to her husband that she had never seen a carrier like this, and loved it.
Let's talk about safety. Sleepypod devotes careful and caring attention to each detail in every product. Safety is Sleepypod’s top priority, and theSleepypod Mobile Pet Bed passed the Child Safety Seat Standard Collision Test.
The best safety feature is the PPRS (Pet Passenger Restraint System).
The PPRS Handilock evolved as a result of variances in test results by Sleepypod and the Center for Pet Safety. Sleepypod tested its Sleepypod mobile pet bed without the PPRS Handilock at two NHTSA contracted laboratories with success. The 15 pound crash test pet remained in the Sleepypod, on the test bench, for the duration of the test, and without rotation.
I'm nervous driving with my girls in the car because I want them to be safe. When I buckled Lexy in, I was more than happy with how secure she was.
"I love how I can see the world from my new carrier!" |
And when I compared her carrier next to Lola's, I realized how much safer and more secure she was. I'll definitely be looking into getting one for Lola.
The Sleepypod Medium weighs 4.5 pounds, is 17" in diameter and is 13.5" high with the dome. (The bed is 6.5" tall).
Features Include:
- Removable mesh dome reveals an everyday pet bed or pet bed away from home
- Seatbelt straps allow Sleepypod Mini to be safely secured in a car seat
- Secure and durable mesh dome
- Easy access from the dome top or when the dome is removed to reveal the bed
- Removable, Ultra Plush bedding is machine-washable
- Easy clean exterior is made of luggage-grade, ballistic nylon
- Adjustable shoulder strap with comfort padding
- Padded carry handle
- Ergonomic zipper pulls

Do you think your cat would be comfortable in a Sleepypod? What color would you choose?

I have a Sleepypod, and it is SO handy for my therapy visits when I go to college campuses, and when I go to the local cat shows. Not only is it a carrier, it's an instant bed for me to sit in and hang out and visit in! It was like an awesome game changer.
ReplyDeleteI like Robin Egg Blue.
ReplyDeleteStrawberry Red! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed is so stylish and I like the Robin Egg Blue color!
ReplyDeleteWe like the seatbelt straps. This looks like a nice carrier/bed.
ReplyDeleteThose things sure do look nice but we have actually never seen a real one, just photos!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on receiving your Sleepypod! We love ours and the vets always compliment us on how easy it is to work with the girls with this carrier. We won't enter because we already have one and we'll be hosting a giveaway within the next couple of weeks. We hope Lola is doing better.
ReplyDeleteIf we were to win one, we'd donate it to one of our cat blogging friends who doesn't have one.
DeleteOh MeOW We've been wantin' one of those since the furst time we saw it. Fanks fur da oppurrtunity to win one. We purray all is well with Lexy. Big hugs
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Raena
WoW! I had not realized they can be buckled into a seat belt! What a great idea! Having traveling cats, and having traveled with cats for over 30 years, I'll have to check these out.

L & L....we haz hurd rave ree viewz bout de sleepy pod frum everee one.....what a grate chance...N best fishez two everee one on winnin thiz total lee kewl carrier ~~ ☺☺♥♥
ReplyDeleteWe purchased those big, boxy carriers when Angel and Chuck were kittens, and I've hated them for all these years! The Sleepypod looks good enough for ME to sleep in! WANT!
ReplyDeleteI dunno. I'd have to think about the color after I won. This was a great review. This is the first time TW has seen that there is a zipper on the top where you put the cat in. She was wondering how you got the cat to stay while you zipped the dome on. HAH! Silly humans.
ReplyDeleteMy fur baby would love the Robin Egg Blue color.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to get one of these, but can't afford one right now. I love the color you chose, very pretty.
ReplyDeletewow i cuds reely travel in styles, Red, red, red
ReplyDeleteWe want the purple one! But if it's not available, then either the red or brown.
ReplyDeleteI've been eyeing the purple one :) Love the chocolate brown too. It looks fitting for a tortie!
ReplyDeleteMango would love the Robin Egg blue one!! He is 6 months old now and is in training to be a model like his older brothers. He has one magazine cover and a fashion photo spread in another magazine. So safe travel is a must for us!!!
ReplyDeleteLove robin egg blue or strawberry ref.
ReplyDeleteWe have looked at these on other blogs. We want the purple one like Brulee had!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about getting 1 of these more and more lately as we seem to be making a lot of trips to the vet. I love blue so I'd pick the Robin Egg Blue.
ReplyDeleteI like blue!
ReplyDeleteThe chocolate brown sounds pretty! I hope one day I have a Sleepypod for each of my 4 kitties.
ReplyDeleteI've been stalking SleepyPod contests/giveaways because I want one so badly! At 13.5 pounds, Bear is pretty much too big for our other carrier - and he's the one I get a workout from just getting him in there. Then the vet has to take it apart to get him out. I'd love the chocolate brown!!!
ReplyDeleteI love how colorful these are! The turquoise is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the SleepyPod and so wish we could have one. Thank you for telling about the seatbelt for safety.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors, but I would go with jet black.
ReplyDeleteI want the robin egg blue!
ReplyDeleteI love the Robin Egg Blue
ReplyDeleteI've seen these and have always been interested but never really new all the really great features until your post! I really like the fact that they're so safe and that they make getting kitty in and out a little easier. All the colors are so nice but I would choose Blossom Pink.
ReplyDeleteStrawberry Red
ReplyDeleteI like the Jet Black .. black goes with everything!
ReplyDeleteI would choose the Strawberry Red! mindy_delisi@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteRed for me. Those look so nice.
ReplyDeletered or black :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'd pick the Sky Blue color if I'm lucky enough to win.
ReplyDeleteRobin Egg Blue
ReplyDeleteWe love the Sleepypod carriers, and we believe that each kitty should have their own to make evacuations possible. Since we added Cupcake to the family, we haven't added a round Sleepypod carrier for her, and pink would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteWe would like the Robin Egg Blue. We love the one we have and would love to have another one. We are one carrier short if we need to evacuate.
ReplyDeleteI have one but I have six cats.. I could totally use another
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful styling of this carrier, it's so unique! But the best part is the car safety aspect of it, I love that. Great product. Excellent review. I'm definitely entering your contest!
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
OOPS, I forgot to say what color I'd like if I won - any color is great but I guess pink or blue would be my fave. Thanks!
DeleteI have heard so many good things about Sleepypod carriers. Perhaps this is the solution to getting my girl Eddy to the vet. She is a bit of a nightmare, you could say, when it comes to getting her into a traditional carrier. Thank you for sharing this with us! (Oh, and purple is my favorite color, so that's likely the color I'd choose!)
ReplyDeleteI think our cats would like the Robin Egg blue. Mine are all seniors now, and this would work well. I have 5 who were all socialized ferals who couldnt find homes for various reasons (mostly medical)
ReplyDeleteellen beck
I love these and have been reading about them and following you of course, I would love to win either the violet or pink as those are the colors of collars and harnesses that Layla wears all the time. This is such a great product
ReplyDeleteI love the mint color.
ReplyDeleteI love the robin's egg blue color! I usually have to have my husband put our cat, Peanut Butter, into her carrier for a trip to the vet, and she hates it! She fights against us every time, so I'm definitely interested in the sleepypod carrier. Just putting her in it and zipping it closed would be so much nicer than the usual battle we go through! I also love that they've crash tested the sleepypod. Road safety is important, as we do travel a lot.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting a SleepyPod for my cats for awhile now. I really need to just go for it and get them for my lovelies! They look SUPER comfortable and the shape is perfect! They look to be so sturdy too!
ReplyDeleteStrawberry red for me please, it's gorgeous, and I grew up on a strawberry farm!
ReplyDeleteBlack is pawesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great product and giveaway. I've only ever heard great things. Hmm if I had to choose ... red or chocolate is nice. Very stylish too.
ReplyDeleteSadie and Shiloh are always so frightened when they go to the vet. The Sleepypod looks like a carrier that they would be MUCH more at ease in! Sadie would choose the blue one...to match her eyes of course :) Thanks for all of your info!
ReplyDeleteI love the light blue color. Roxie sings at the top of her lungs on the way to the vet, and the plastic carriers are not car secure, which means louder anguished singing all 5 blocks to the vet. This would solve a few problems!
ReplyDeleteI love these things! I've seen them around. They seem so sturdy and yet compact and comfortable. Cute colors too! - Shelby G.
ReplyDeleteNow I just need them to make one for my 60 pound dog, with wheels haha! I like that its their home! Some where they can feel safe and because they are used to it they don't have to be anxious about the pod when they are being transported or being taken to the vet!
ReplyDeletelove the robin egg blue!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have one of these I've known about them for quite some time. And as a city dweller I understand the 3 flight walk up, ours is only 2 but Rhette weighs at least 17lbs so I wonder if he is too heavy for it. I know the dogs are! Sandra and Dolly
ReplyDeleteI'd probably go with black but love the turquoise!
DeleteSleepy pod looks stylish and comfy, I wish there was something like this for dogs too!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! This looks absolutely perfect. My little tiny (a terrier) is terrified of the vet and we use a big crate carrier. He's cat-sized, so I may need to look into this for him. Great suggestion!
ReplyDeleteI have seen this carrier before and think its an awesome idea instead of the bulky carriers. Willow would love this for sure! I love the turquoise color!
ReplyDeleteRufus the Red would look good in chocolate brown. We would love to win one- if not, Santa?
ReplyDeleteI've had a Sleepy pod for years and by far, it's my favorite carrier for my cats. Every time I bring use it to bring a cat to the vet, I always get compliments from both the staff and clients! Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all about your experiences with Sleepypod. We especially love how safe they are in the car. We think chocolate brown sounds like a good color.
ReplyDeleteThat is just the coolest thing!
ReplyDeleteHave a super Sunday...
Noodle and crew
I love the Robin Egg Blue. I also love how you can strap this into the car!!
ReplyDeleteWe would love Jet Black or Chocolate Brown
ReplyDeleteSeen these only online..would love to carry my pet in one. Love teal and coral.
ReplyDeleteI like Jet Black.
ReplyDeleteI'd pick strawberry red!
ReplyDeleteI'd love the chocolate brown for my baby. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteWe would like Chocolate Brown.
ReplyDeleteI like blue.
ReplyDeleteLove the robin egg blue!
ReplyDeleteI love the pink one
