Lola
It was my first day out in the adoption room at The Humane Society. I’d been here for about 6 weeks. Some nice people grabbed me off the street. I never knew any other place, and for sure didn’t know what home was.
I was very skinny and very sick with a respiratory infection, plus I was covered in mites. Now I was feeling a lot better, playful even. A lady came over to my cage, I reached out my paw to her and she was hooked. She stood at my cage talking to me for quite a little while. Then, all of a sudden, they took me out of my cage, and the lady held on to me and said she was bringing me to a place called home.

She put me in a smaller, fancier cage, and then we hopped in the car and off we went. I loved the car and sang and sang the whole way to the place called home. We went inside and the lady opened the door and I stepped out of my cage. Right away, a big fluffy orange cat comes over to me. He didn’t seem too friendly, in fact, he hissed and growled at me...so rude! The lady told me that was my new brother Oliver. I looked around and set off exploring. I ended up going inside the sofa bed and the lady couldn’t find me, but eventually I came out of my hiding spot.

It took about 3 days before Oliver and I were in the same room together. We smelled each other, but we still kept our distance from each other. Oliver told me the lady was called mom and this was my forever home.
I just celebrated my eleventh gotcha day. I really lucked out with my forever family. I have my brother who I love so much, we like to chase each other and wrestle, but Oliver is bigger than me, so I never win our wrestling matches. My mom is really a great mom. She feeds us yummy food and takes very good care of us. A few years ago, I had some health troubles, but mom took me to the hospital and got me all fixed up.
We’re very lucky because our mom works from home, so she’s around all day to cater to our every wish and sometimes if I bug her enough, she’ll give me a cuddle in the middle of the day. The weekends are my favourite time. Mom doesn’t work then, which means naps, playtime and lots of cuddles.
I’ll forever be grateful to the Ottawa Humane Society for rescuing me off the street, making me all better and helping me find a home and my forever family.

ReplyDeleteLoved the cafe story too. I commented on it and when I came back to look at it again, it disappeared.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am headed to Charlotte tomorrow and they have a new Cat Cafe. I hope to go there.
ReplyDeleteThe link to Oliver and Calvin's Facebook isn't right - though we were able to find them! We love stories with happy endings like this - there aren't nearly enough happy endings for kitties.
