Rescue Stories: Princess - Found Dirty and Hungry in the Street and is now Treated Like Royalty

Hello and Happy Friday! I'm back with another great tail tale in our RescueStories series. Today's story is about one of our Instagram friends, Princess. We fell in love with her gorgeous photos (which have earned her over 11K followers on Instagram) and when we read that she was found on the street, well, we just had to share her story. Read on to see how this street kitty went on to be Princess of her castle.

My Mum found princess on January 6, 2016 on the street in front of a primary school, which is very close to our home. The weather was very cold that day, and it was one of the most severe winters in Ankara. The cat was playing with the students and when mum saw her, she ran over to her asking for food. We never had a cat before but mum immediately picked her up and brought her home. She was lonely, dirty, had some wounds on her nose and ears, a small cut on her right ear, lost the hair on her ears, could not even open her eyes - and she was starving.

How to Know if You're Ready to Adopt a Cat - Guest Post

Hello and Happy Thursday! You all know how much we love to support pet adoption, but pet ownership may not be for everyone. Today we're very happy to have a guest post by Annie Anderson, founder of MeowKai, about the very important things to consider before adopting a new cat into your family. Remember; pet adoption is one of the kindest things you can do, but you need to do it responsibly.
Lola

Being ‘owned’ by a cat is a rewarding experience and can enrich the life of you and your family. Adopting a cat is a great way to do a good deed for your community animal shelter, and they make excellent companions. Before you rush over to the pet adoption agency, though, you should consider whether or not you’re truly ready for a cat. Here are a few things you’ll need to think about:

Lifestyle

What sort of lifestyle do you currently enjoy? Are you away for long periods of time during the day? Do you travel frequently? Or do you work from home and have plenty of time to spend with your cat? While it’s true that cats are much more independent than dogs, they do still require love and attention throughout the day. Some breeds are more independent than others, but that doesn’t mean you can leave them for a long weekend while you go away to the cottage. You won’t be able to simply set up their automatic cat feeder and be on your way. You’ll need to make sure that someone is available to check on your cat when you’re away for a prolonged period of time. If you travel frequently you may want to reconsider adopting a cat.

Today is a great day – it’s National Cat Day!  In 2005 National Cat Day was founded by Pet and Family Lifestyle Expert & Animal Welfare Advocate Colleen Paige to help bring attention to the number of cats that need to be rescued each year. Ever since then National Cat Day is celebrated on October 29 to celebrate cats and help them find forever homes.  Of course we couldn’t resist participating!

Hello everyone.  This is Lexy checking in with our monthly Chewy.com review.  This month I chose something I thought would be yummy; Solid Gold Purrfect Pairings Savory Mousse. Humans have chocolate mousse and now kitties have a mousse they can enjoy.

Hello everyone. This is Lexy checking in with some information on a great product that we here at the White House love – ARM & HAMMER™ CLUMP & SEAL™ odor sealing litter. We are a multi-cat household that shares a one-bedroom apartment with a human, which means there are not a lot of options to hide the litter box.  It also means it’s hard to hide litter box odors. That is until ARM & HAMMER™ CLUMP & SEAL™ odor sealing litter came to the rescue.

A stinky litter box sets the tone for the household.  As you can see, Lola and I were not happy when litter box odors took over the apartment, and neither was Mother. She would constantly spray air freshener, or worse yet, she’d buy perfumey litter to try to cover up the smell.  (That only resulted in flowery scented poop.) Not good. Once we discovered ARM & HAMMER™ CLUMP & SEAL™ we were much happier cats, and Mother was a much happier person.
