A Selfie for Sunday With Mommy

Hello and Happy Sunday! Sorry we haven't posted or visited friends, but it's been a crazy week. Mommy had to go to Long Island for a few days for work and it took her over 1 1/2 hours to get home each night! And, well, things were a little crazy for everyone this week and there was a lot of sadness and some meanness going on. But today is the start of a brand new week, with a brand new attitude, and what better way to start it than with selfies?

I decided to do my selfie with Mommy this week. OK, I should warn you... it didn't turn out the way I had expected. And she probably should have run a comb through her, too.  Sigh... but I made the best of it.

No, No.  This is much too close!

Hello, everyone, this is Lexy checking in. The holiday season is upon us and I have some great tips to get your home Thanksgiving ready for your guests in a jiffy.

  • Clear a place for your guests’ coats and bags.  You can clear a coat rack in your entrance way, or designate a bed as the place for them to drop their belongings.
  • Put on some music. This sets the mood and helps to relax your guests.
  • Adjust the lighting. Turn off bright overhead lights and turn on table lamps and light some candles. This makes everyone feel cozy.
  • Pick up a bouquet of flowers. They add some festiveness to your décor, and they smell nice, too.
  •  Clean the litter box.

That’s right… I added the litter box to my list. Your guests won’t enjoy the succulent turkey or the delectable apple pie with funky litter box odors lingering nearby. That’s why you need to make sure you have ARM & HAMMER™ CLUMP & SEAL™ cat litter on hand so you have an odor free home for the holidays. (No matter how many bouquets of flowers you buy, they won’t mask litter box odors.)

I went to PetSmart with Mother to pick up a new box. The Lightweight type fits our lifestyle because we live in a third-floor walk-up and the box is easy for Mother to carry up the steps.

Rescue Stories: Princess - Found Dirty and Hungry in the Street and is now Treated Like Royalty

Hello and Happy Friday! I'm back with another great tail tale in our RescueStories series. Today's story is about one of our Instagram friends, Princess. We fell in love with her gorgeous photos (which have earned her over 11K followers on Instagram) and when we read that she was found on the street, well, we just had to share her story. Read on to see how this street kitty went on to be Princess of her castle.
Lola

My Mum found princess on January 6, 2016 on the street in front of a primary school, which is very close to our home. The weather was very cold that day, and it was one of the most severe winters in Ankara. The cat was playing with the students and when mum saw her, she ran over to her asking for food. We never had a cat before but mum immediately picked her up and brought her home. She was lonely, dirty, had some wounds on her nose and ears, a small cut on her right ear, lost the hair on her ears, could not even open her eyes - and she was starving.

How to Know if You're Ready to Adopt a Cat - Guest Post

Hello and Happy Thursday! You all know how much we love to support pet adoption, but pet ownership may not be for everyone. Today we're very happy to have a guest post by Annie Anderson, founder of MeowKai, about the very important things to consider before adopting a new cat into your family. Remember; pet adoption is one of the kindest things you can do, but you need to do it responsibly.
Lola

Being ‘owned’ by a cat is a rewarding experience and can enrich the life of you and your family. Adopting a cat is a great way to do a good deed for your community animal shelter, and they make excellent companions. Before you rush over to the pet adoption agency, though, you should consider whether or not you’re truly ready for a cat. Here are a few things you’ll need to think about:

Lifestyle

What sort of lifestyle do you currently enjoy? Are you away for long periods of time during the day? Do you travel frequently? Or do you work from home and have plenty of time to spend with your cat? While it’s true that cats are much more independent than dogs, they do still require love and attention throughout the day. Some breeds are more independent than others, but that doesn’t mean you can leave them for a long weekend while you go away to the cottage. You won’t be able to simply set up their automatic cat feeder and be on your way. You’ll need to make sure that someone is available to check on your cat when you’re away for a prolonged period of time. If you travel frequently you may want to reconsider adopting a cat.
