Throwback Thursday - My Towel Rack!

Hello and Happy Thursday! Today I'm going all the way back to a week after I moved in with Mommy and Lexy. Let me set the scene... when I first came home from the hospital, I was still sick and I had to be sequestered in the bathroom, which I called my "Executive Suite". One day Mommy came into my Executive Suite to check on me, and she couldn't find me. She was very scared, and couldn't imagine where I could have gone! She turned around and there I was, on the towel rack! That became my safe space for a while, and when Mommy put the towels away, she made sure my space was empty. How nice was that?

I was still recovering when this picture was taken, so my eyes look a little funny.

Catnip Nation - A Documentary About Feral Cats and the People Who Take Care of Them

Cat Camp NYC, which took place this past March in Manhattan, turned out to be a very educational experience for me.  I was able to speak to people from all walks of the cat community, learning about their missions, values, and work. One of the people I had the pleasure of meeting was Tina Traster, the Producer and Director of the documentary film, Catnip Nation

When I was looking at the promotional materials for the film, I noticed they are located in Rockland County, NY where I was born and raised. This piqued my interest and made me very happy because many people don’t even know that Rockland County is on the map! I was so pleased to hear that a spotlight is being shone on the wonderful people whose tireless efforts improve the lives of homeless cats in my hometown.

The film’s trailer brings me to tears.

Throwback Thursday - Me and My Brown Mousie!

Hello and Happy Thursday! Today I have a little video to share with you.  Let me set the scene... when I first moved here my favorite toy was my brown mousie. He was my best friend, and I brought him with me everywhere around the house. Sometimes I would lose him and then I would be very sad. This little video was shot right after Mommy found him for me, and you can see how happy I was to have him back!

I was kinda cute! MOL I hope you enjoyed my throwback today!

A Haven for Cats on Long Island - The Patricia H. Ladew Foundation

I’m sure it will be no surprise to our readers that when I attended Cat Camp in March my favorite spot was the adoption area. There were several shelters and rescues present, but I was particularly happy to see that the Patricia H. Ladew Foundation was there. I had been familiar with the Ladew Foundation for quite some time, receiving their newsletters and following them on Facebook, and I had been wanting to visit the sanctuary. I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Susan Whittred during Cat Camp who graciously invited me for a tour.

Life at the sanctuary

The sanctuary is a very lovely, unassuming house situated on a residential street in Oyster Bay, NY. A caretaker lives in an apartment on the premises to make sure the daily needs of the cats are attended to. In addition to the caretaker, there are three full-time staff, three part-time staff and approximately 10 consistent volunteers, who are the cats’ family.
